BD 4/27/12; 10 weeks as of 7/5/12 Belize and her littermate Tropicana were recued by some kind people in NE Iowa who have been trying to get the feral colony by their home downsized by trapping and TNR'ing the adults and saving the kittens. They have been overwhelmed this year with the amount of kittens and asked WPR for help with some of them. They haven't been in foster care the entire time since being rescued as most foster homes have been filled to more than capacity, so they were boarded until there was an opening. They were born approximately 4/27/12 according the the vet who has given them their first exam and appropriate medical care/treatment. They were somewhat still wild when they arrived in their current foster home, but are coming along nicely with their socialization. Belize arrived as a mostly solid black kitten, with a tiny white locket on her neck and a dap of white sugar on her tummy. HOWEVER... as she is maturing, her coat is glowing with silver highlights with the most UNEXPECTED and AMAZING American Shorthaired Tabby Marbeling this foster mom has ever seen! It is truly a work of art under that black topcoat! Everyday she seems to have more striking and pronounced marbeling glowing through, and when she is fully grown and mature, she is going to be S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G when those silver hairs become more prounounced, as they probably will! She has symmetrical, beautiful bullseyes on both sides, and several other markings very characteristic of the American Silver Tabby - only this girl has the REVERSE color pattern - how special is THAT??!! Instead of being silver with black tabby markings, she is black with silver markings! She is still a little hesitant with her foster mom, and will hiss occassionally. With the number of kittens in the foster home, it is difficult to spend quality time with each one of them, but she should grow up to be a loving, sweet girl if her new family spends the time loving and cuddling and spoiling her like all little ones deserved to be coddled! She is coming along quite nicely and doesn't try to get down or get away when being snuggled up close on the shoulder and has sweet nothings whispered in her ears! It just takes a little time to get formerly feral kittens used to the human interaction, but when they do, they are sweet as any other handraised kitten! Sometimes it takes a village to raise even one kitty, just like with humans! Belize and her littermate Tropicana have had their first exam, first vaccinations, and have been dewormed and treated for parasites; Tropicana tested negative for FeLK/FIV/HW so since they were so young with no signs of injury when rescued, Belize should be negative as well. Belize is ready to go to her new furrever home so she can bond and love her new family instead of her foster mom! She would love to be adopted together with her sister, Tropicana, too! If you have room in your heart, home and budget for two kittens, it is always better to adopt them in pairs so they have someone to rough house with and get all of their kitten antics out of their system with so they can save all their lovin' for YOU - and it gives them a lifelong companion! ''Until there are none, please adopt one; so they aren't blue, why not adopt two?" (author unknown) 8/1/12: She is spayed now and ready for a real home! 10/17/12 UPDATE: Belize has come a long way from the wild little feral kitten she was when trapped, and she is learning to trust and love, but still slightly skittish. She does meow for attention but is not completely sure she likes being held, even though she loves to be petted. She has recovered from a slight case of ringworm on her head, and while being treated for that, gained trust in her foster mom. She gets along great with her littermate Tropicana and Indy Boy, who have all been treated together, so if you'd like to adopt two kittens together, she'd do gr
